New Play Lab FAQs
Q: Do I have to pay a fee to submit a play?
A: No; there is no fee to submit your play. However, if your play is chosen you are expected to attend the festival, which includes a registration fee of $225 which covers the cost of all festival and exclusive VIP events. Travel and lodging are your responsibility.
Q: Can I submit my same play multiple years to the Inge Play Lab?
A: Yes, you may submit the same play. There are different readers each year so your play will be reviewed by different theater artists.

A: We accept plays whether or not they have had a previous production.
Q: How will I know if my play is selected?
A: You will receive notification of the final outcome of your play submission in January.
Q: What if I am selected but I cannot attend?
A: If you are selected and then find you unfortunately cannot join us for the festival, we ask that you inform us immediately so we can offer this opportunity to an alternate selected play in waiting.
Q: Where do the New Play Lab readings at the William Inge Theater Festival take place?
A: Independence, Kansas 67301, hometown of playwright William Inge. The specific location in town and address for your reading will be communicated closer to the festival date.

A: Playwrights whose plays are selected for the New Play Lab are responsible for their own travel and lodging needs. However, there is a free Inge Shuttle service offered to and from the Tulsa, OK airport and Independence, KS, and from hotels to festival events. Details will be communicated closer to festival date.
Q:Will there be on-campus lodging available?
A:We have had this option available to us in the past, however, due to high dorm usage we are not able to offer on-campus lodging at this time.
