Director of the William Inge Center for the Arts

ASHLEY HOVELL is the director of the William Inge Center For the Arts and the Wiliam Inge Theatre Festival. She graduated with a bachelor’s in theater performance from University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse in 2013. As a director, Ashley has worked most closely with Uprising Theatre Company in Minneapolis, MN directing such shows as: Doctor Voynich and Her Children, Line of Sight, The Laramie Project, Twisted Deaths and co-directed Prometheus Bound, and Who Has Eyes To See. She was also selected as a directing fellow as part of the ArtsNest DirectorWorks program in Minneapolis, MN. 

As an actor, Ashley has worked with multiple theaters including Uprising Theatre Company, Hero Now Theater, Mission Theater Company, Six Elements Theater, as well as the ICC Theatre department. In 2019, Ashley was invited to take part in the first ever National Winter Actors Retreat through the HBMG Foundation. Ashley was also featured in the feature film No Blood of Mine as well as multiple short films in Minnesota. She is drawn to collaborative projects that create safe spaces for people to play and take risks and bring big ideas to the table.

Ashley is currently getting her Master of Fine Arts in Theatre through Randolph College. She is expected to graduate with her degree in January 2027.

Technical Director, William Inge Theatre

JOEL WILLIAMS, a native of Kansas, has spent the last 7 years in Atlanta, GA as the Technical Director, and Instructor of Technical Theatre at Woodward Academy. Prior to that, Joel served as the Technical Director, Instructor, and Theatrical Designer at Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS. Joel’s specialties are in scenic design and construction, and Sound design and mixing. He has worked professionally as a Technical Director, Scenic, Sound, Projection, or Lighting Designer with Aris’ theatre in Atlanta, Central Missouri Repertory in Warrensburg, Imago Dei in Kansas City, and The Helen Hocker theatre in Topeka.  Among his favorite productions are Desdemona; a play about a handkerchief, Les Misérables, Radium Girls, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Playing for Time, Into The Woods, and Chicago. Joel holds a bachelor’s degree in Theatre from Ottawa University, and a Master of Theatre Studies from Southern Oregon University.
