Bruce Peterson (he/him) has been a fan of William Inge plays since his high school days at a small town in California, where he discovered a bond with Inge’s Midwestern settings. He was active in theater in many cities he landed, in roles such as Lucky in Dames at Sea, A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Demetrius, and as Charley in Charley’s Aunt. After a time in New York where he worked as an editor at Back Stage newspaper, he moved to Independence 20 years ago, working as managing director of the William Inge Center for the Arts for much of that time. Bruce thinks it is a thrill to play Morris in William Inge’s hometown. Since moving here, he has enjoyed performing with numerous Independence Community College, Neewollah, and other area productions. He is a graduate of San Francisco State University and studied acting under Jean Shelton in that city.
